Artists Paints Space 1 Dot at a Time

Catherine Kirkland's current focus is in creating space-themed, abstract pointillist paintings, rendered in acrylic on canvas or linen. Ms. Kirkland produces her works, both with brushes and unconventional tools, detailing her compositions with thousands of colorful dots. Using vibrant, cheerful colors and intricate patterns, she strives to bring a sense of joy and wonder to the viewer. She takes delight in watching exhibit guests take in her art from afar, then draw closer and react with amazement as they discover the dots that make up the images.

Ms. Kirkland’s style and color palette are inspired not only by 20th century, Denver-based artist Vance Kirkland’s work (no relation), but also by works of other mid-century artists such as Lorser Feitelson, Karl Benjamin, and that of another Denver native, contemporary western painter David Parker.

Commissions and giclée fine art prints are available by contacting Catherine.
